Covid-19 has changed the way people work and live, we hope that people are weathering the storm, staying safe and adapting to the new ‘normal’ When David and I opened our Estate Agency business in Bramhope at the end of 2018, who would have thought a little over twelve months on when Covid-19 resulted in a lockdown, a ‘short term’ business pause, followed thankfully by just over a month of our office being open again, we are now working in the new ‘normal’ way too. I am using this morning (Trudy is back in the office for the first time which is great for us) to reflect on how things have changed in the Estate Agency world and how our business was thankfully future-proofed from the start to allow for a new normal way of working. People sell houses, enabled by the best technology and modern sales techniques was our mantra right from the start – this is serving us well in the following ways:-
Home momentum has been building rapidly in the two weeks since the housing market properly re-opened – this had led to a number of records being achieved on Rightmove. Both the number of visits and the amount of time people are spending on Rightmove has achieved new highs. On Wednesday May 27th visits exceeded 6 million in a day for the first time, which is up by 18% on Wednesday May 29th last year. The busiest day for time spent on Rightmove was Saturday May 23rd with over 47 million minutes spent collectively. In the new survey, Rightmove has found a wave of new buyers now entering the market since before lockdown – of those people who had no plans to move earlier in the year, over a quarter of them (28%) are now saying they are planning to move.
At David Phillip Estate Agents, we are delighted that we have been given the green light by the Government to recommence selling properties in North Leeds which includes the undertaking of market appraisals and viewings, however, our delight is edged with some caution. As your local trusted Estate Agent we fully understand that we have a social responsibility to all our clients and this is something that we take very seriously. We also understand and recognise that as a buyer or seller you will also have growing concerns given the ongoing situation of Covid-19. Although some restrictions have been lifted, Covid 19 is still very much here and the way we undertake our business is absolutely key for our team, our clients, but also for the companies we work in partnership with. What was considered normal previously to Covid-19, no longer applies – we are now working with the ‘new’ normal
