Hedgehogs are continuing to decline in the UK and are at risk of extinction in the next ten years, Autumnis a key time for these garden animals, as they start to go into hibernation in October and November. Here are some tips to help preserve this spiky creature in your garden
The internet has brought all things to our fingertips from buying groceries, booking tickets and holidays and doing research about future things you would want to buy such as cars and homes. The internet though has also evolved as a place to read customer reviews, this can help people to determine the services and products they want to buy from people who have already experienced using that company. With more than 90% of all customers using online reviews as part of their research at a local and national level, this shows that merely informing a potential customer of the availability of a product or service is no longer enough – consumers want to hear about first hand experiences.
You have seen the property of your dreams and put in an offer, but the person buying your home is not ready to proceed as quickly as your seller requires, and you are likely to hold up the chain, what do you do?
The property Portal on the Market has found that if you live on a street with a name that is regal or titled, such as Royal, Place, Lord and Bishop it can boost the value of their homes lining their pavements.
We love to visit the Cinema in Harrogate, it feels like home from home with the comfy sofas, soft carpets and lots of seating space, however a Sunday visit can be quite costly when you add the cinema tickets, the bottle of shared wine, the taxi’s and lunch afterwards. If that was for up to 8 people, the spend would end up being quite costly, so … imagine if you had your own home cinema/theatre, with luxury seating, and the best possible sound and lighting money could buy – take a look at the Old Barn in Adel, Leeds.
I read with interest the article on Property Eye today, written by Zoopla Managing Director Charlie Bryant who writes ‘the way agents operate has changed significantly over the last five years, you are no longer reliant on the portals for marketing homes – that is as it should be. Digital Marketing has empowered agents to take matters into their own hands to a far greater extent. Different audiences will also respond in varying ways to the myriad of communications channels now out there and often a message needs to be seen or heard across multiple platforms to resonate.’ He also writes, ‘In May, Zoopla surveyed 2,000 people who have either sold their property in the last 18 months or who were currently looking to move or sell over the next year and a half. An over whelming proportion of these house-hunters (70%) told us that they use a combination of estate agency websites and property portals when searching for their next home. This reflects the savviness of the general consumer in the digital age The research demonstrates that a hybrid strategy when marketing a home is key to maximising eyeballs to ensure it is sold or let out as quickly as possible and for the best possible price.’ Great words from Charlie Bryant, and at David Phillip Estate Agents we total agree:- One Size doesn’t fit all
In today’s busy working world, the distance from home to work can often be a long and difficult commute. The impact of driving to work can also eat into your working day, whilst also impacting on the environment – home working can reduce your carbon footprint with car emissions as well as saving travelling expenses. Today you do not necessarily need to physically go to work, you just work regardless of the location, and as long as you have the right environment in which to work, supported by the best technology and it works well for you as well as for the company you are employed by then this can be a viable alternative If you are a small business then, working from home can also provide the advantage of not paying hefty business charges too. So how do you make this transition from travelling to work to arriving straight to your ‘desk’ which can be a bit jarring first thing on a morning! - go straight to your ‘ to-do’ list and by starting first thing, this can be much more effective than starting with breakfast and allowing the morning sluggishness to set in – have your breakfast mid-morning when you are ready for a break
At a time when there has been so much profoundly moving coverage of the D Day landings, there is a very special exhibition taking currently place at Leeds town Hall. The War on Waste Exhibition uses Second World War publicity techniques to draw attention to the environmental challenges facing us today.
I was walking around RHS Harlow Carr Garden at the weekend and was so impressed with what they are doing to help the environment, as well as providing the right surroundings for bees and wild animals. Bees perform a task that is vital to the survival of pollination and agriculture – one third of the global food supply is pollinated by bees including 70 types of crops and contribute £400 million pounds to the economy, as well as making 6,000 tonnes of honey and who, quite simply keep the plants and crops alive – bees need good food in order to provide us with food too. There are so many changes to our environment it can be hard for bees to find enough flowers and therefore food, so…. What can we do to help support this critical friend.
